2009: The year of the GPU Tipping Point
GPU computing has reached the Tipping Point, NVIDIA Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jen-Hsun Huang told a room packed with more than 120 journalists from around the world. “Windows 7 will transform the industry for years to come. At its core is GPU computing,” he said at the GPU Compute press conference at the Wedding Room on the 7th Floor of New York, New York.

Drew Henry, NVIDIA’s General Manager of GeForce and ION then showed how the GPU is impacting every part of the home and why video is the next killer application of the GPU. Murray Vince, General Manager of Microsoft’s OEM Division then explained why the GPU is central to Windows 7.

The media also had an exclusive world’s first viewing of the Terminator Salvation game, as well as a first-hand experience of 3D Vision when they put on 3D glasses to watch a compilation of thrilling 3D games.
